WWE Backlash: Khali Kiss Cam

Bit of comedy to lighten up the mood. Easily one of the funniest things that I have seen for a while. Santina in a Kiss Cam with The Great Khali. Everyone plays their role brillantly here, especially Runjin Singh as the instigator. Once we find out that Santina is in love with JR, all the hillarity kicks off but JR looks truly pissed off and even takes a shot at his broadcast partner Michael Cole when asked if he was fed a line, even though Santina had already said it. Then we have Beth and Rosa heading to the ring and challenges Santina too a match which lasts a total of 3 seconds after Khali hits Beth and pushes her over. This isn't finshed yet when Khlai rips off Santina's "bra" and Santina runs around covering her "modesty". Truly a fun segment that worked on many levels, if you haven't already seen it, go out your way to watch it!

WWE Backlash 2009: Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy I Quit

A Family Divided

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy officially kicked off their feud at the Royal Rumble when Matt cost Jeff his WWE Title. After weeks of built we finally got an Extreme Rules match at Wrestlemania 25. We get a video package putting over the Mania match and the stretcher match on Smackdown a few days later. The commentators remind us of the feud as well during both entrances and remind us that Matt is 3-0 up and has Jeff’s number. The King also acknowledges that Jeff has no face paint, possibly signalling a new found intensity.

Ref calls for the bell and here we go. Matt goes for a lock up but Jeff evades it and starts pounding his older brother in the corner. After the section in the corner, Matt wriggles his way out of the ring but Jeff follows him by going over the top rope and hits Matt. Now Matt is over at the barricade and resembling one of their Mania spots, Jeff goes over steel steps and puts Matt in a sandwich between him and the barricade. Looks like Jeff’s brought his A game tonight (story wise people, story wise). This match finds its way back into the ring and we have the Jeff Hardy formula in matches taking shape but now for extra story significance uses the leg drops that Matt did after the Jeff vs. Big Show match a few weeks ago on Smackdown. Ref asks Matt if he wants to quit. No, we continue. Now Jeff puts Matt in a sleeper hold which Matt powers out of.
Now Matt begins to take control, just after reversing a Whisper in the Wind attempt from Jeff. Jeff asked to quit, no and now Matt begins to work over the leg, Jeff asked twice in quick succession to quit and says no both times. Matt channels his inner Flair and chop blocks Jeff’s leg and now we get a Figure Four. Looks like the leg work is an important factor of this match now. Jeff asked to quit twice and no he still won’t quit. Matt goes for another Figure Four after stomping on the leg and mocking Jeff about the leg, Jeff asked again to quit, he will not quit, but he reverses the Figure Four, pressure on Matt, asked to quit he says no. We are at the 5 minute mark of Matt working over the leg and he is getting frustrated now and starts to yell QUIT QUIT and Jeff, he still won’t quit. Now Jeff is in the Tree of Woe which he manages to get out of by getting onto the top rope.

Jeff now hits the Whisper in the Wind (wait isn’t your leg injured?). Now Matt and Jeff are swinging and each other and Jeff is sporadically selling the leg work and gets Matt in a Texas Clover Leaf. Matt’s tapping, he’s tapping but will not quit. This match continues as Matt gets to the ropes and out of the submission. Looks like Jeff’s leg is fine now and he goes for the Twist of Fate but botches it, Matt planted himself, so Jeff hits another Twist of Fate for good measure. Jeff – no longer selling the leg work – goes up top and hits a few Swanton Bombs and Matt is asked if he wants to quit but he does not. Jeff brings a table into the ring (the crowd wanted this 10 minutes ago!) and sets it up but this ends up outside the ring. Matt goes for his own Twist of Fate but no Jeff reverses it and hits it on the concrete and this finds its way back in the ring.
Jeff goes under the ring and brings out rope and duck tape. Yes you read that right. Matt starts getting tied up and this is beginning to resemble Brother Bondage (thanks to Crelly over on the forums at Wrestleview for this comment). Jeff now begins to tie Matt up with the rope to the table and is torturing him – and this fan as well – and the ref asks Matt to quit and he doesn’t. Out comes a ladder, here we go final spot coming up! Jeff taunts Matt as Matt pleads with Jeff not to do it and begins to apologise for everything, saying that he loves him and they can be brothers again and talks about their late mum (classy WWE, very classy) and QUITS. This one is over. Jeff Hardy beats his brother. For the hell of it Jeff finishes Matt of in a spot resembling the final spot of their Mania match.

Conclusion
This in my opinion is not a very good match for the plain and simple fact it does not fit the stipulation. I Quit matches should be about blood, the need to kill their opponent and this match did not give me that feeling. Also the Brother Bondage section in the match, what the hell! That has no business in this match, yes I get the torture bit but come on it had no place in the match. This match is watchable but isn’t a very good match and personally I did not like this but I welcome debate on this match!

Introduction

Hello wrestling fans. I'm new to this blogging game so give me time to get used to it. I intend to use this blog to review just 2 aspects of WWE Pay Per Views. I will look at a match on the undercard and a segment from the show. I'm only doing this well basically as I'm lazy and I think I'll be able to give more in depth stuff by just lookig at certain aspects of the Pay Per View. The first proper post will be up in the next few days with a review of Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy from Backlash in their I Quit match and the Santina/Great Khali/Beth/JR segment from the same Pay Per View.

So later people.
